A crew container lets you define a pre-set crew with a designated crew lead and crew members. If you find yourself frequently dispatching the same group of people together, a crew container can save you time dispatching: You select the container and the crew lead and members are automatically filled.

How to Create a Crew Container

Anyone in the “FSM Build Plans Managers”  User Group (most users, including PMs) can create Crew Containers.

To do this:

  • From the Conterra Home screen, on the ribbon home tab in the “Run” group, click “Quick Launch.”
  • Type “Crew” into the search box
  • Double-click “Crew Containers” to open the reference

On the ribbon Home tab, in the “New” group, click “Create Record” to add a new Container.

On the card that opens, fill-in the following required requisites (fields):

  1. Name – this can be anything, but make it unique and recognizable.
  2. Region and Market – Crew Containers must be Region-specific.  If required, fill in the Market field as well, to create a container for the specific Region and Market.
  3. Project Project — additional data section. Crew Container will be dispatched to BPs under the specific Project.
  4. Owner – indicates an Employee who will review Time Cards associated with Work Orders on which these crew members are dispatched. Read more about TC Reviewer determination here.
  5. Default Crew Lead – type the name of the person you want and hit “Enter” to select them. This field is mandatory for the Static type of containers. The selection is made from Employees and Project Roles.Crew Lead and Crew Members – you can only select employees who are not suspended and those who have resource records for the container region.
  6. Default Crew Members:
    • Click-into the Crew Member table, just below the table headers to add the first row.
    • Click the (“three-dot”) button at the right end of the cell to open and select-from the list of Employees (you can also type an Employee name in the field and hit “Enter” to search for them).
    • Click the * (“asterisk”) icon on the left side of the row and choose “Add” to add more rows (you can also press the down-arrow key on your keyboard while your cursor is in the cell).
  7. Save and Close when finished.

There are two types of crew container calculation: static and calculated. You configure the static type yourself. The calculated type is used for more custom calculations that cannot be described by the static rule. It is set by FCX Support at your request.

How to Use a Crew Container

When you create a new Dispatch, before manually selecting a Crew Lead, click the Crew Containers selector and select your Container.

The Lead and Members will be automatically populated.

You can still edit the crew on the dispatch after applying the container, if you wish.
