What is the difference between a Site and BP or Job?
Some companies are accustomed to referring to Customer Jobs as Sites, and/or tracking Site data just in relation to Jobs.
In Fieldclix, however, a “Job”, or “Build Plan” is a different record than a “Site” and each serves a different purpose.
In FCX, a Site represents: a physical work location and the data related to it, where that data is Carrier-specific, but NOT client-specific. Each BP (our analogue to a Site) is tied to a single Site, but a single Site might have multiple BPs tied to it.
Consider that you might work on the same WorkSite multiple times over the years under different contracts or for different Clients. When it happens, it is convenient to connect to past info about Site, like Access info.
Therefore, when you enter an FCX Site, use the Carrier's ID or Name for the Site to keep the Site record non-client-specific.
Option to Mass-Import Sites
It is possible to mass-import a database of Sites from a spreadsheet into FCX. This is accomplished using a special Site import tool.
Check for Preexisting Site
Access Site Reference via Quick Launch.
Customize View Using Standard FCX Reference Options.
1. In the Filtering and Sorting group of the ribbon View tab, click “Quick Filter” (“Funnel” icon) to open the Quick Filter.
2. Turn-On Quick Filter to Open Search Box Under Each Column Header. Type-into the Quick Filter and press “Enter” or “Return” on your keyboard to search the column by the term or term part.
3. In the Columns group of the ribbon View tab, click “Visible Columns” to change column visibility and order.
4. Select column(s) on left, in Invisible columns pane to change.
5. Modify Which Record Fields are Visible as Columns in Reference. Click > to move selected invisible items to the Visible columns pane on the right.
- Click >> to move ALL available columns to Visible.
- Select item(s) on the right and click < to make them invisible.
- Click << to make ALL columns invisible.
6. You can also grab and drag column headers around.
7. Click “OK” to apply column changes.
8. Click Column Header to Sort Ascending/Descending.
9. Use Column Header Drop-Down Menu to Filter by Multiple Values.
All field values currently visible in that column are available for selection.
NOTE
Other applied filters can constrain Reference filter options.
Search Reference by Several Term Parts Before Concluding Record is missing.
To prevent duplicate records, we recommend, before adding records users search datasets by several term parts before concluding the record is not already there.
Suggested searches are:
- Full term/phrase
- First few terms / characters
- Last few terms / characters
- Alternative terms. Like the Site name, for instance, if the Site ID is not returning anything.
Create & Fill-Out Site Card
Desktop
1. Create Site Card.
In the New group of the Sites (FSM) Reference ribbon Home tab, click “Create Record” to create a new Site card.
Fill-Out Site Card.
Type-in values for the required fields indicated by * and type “enter/return” on your keyboard to select the entered value.
2. Enter Site ID:
- The Site ID is the key value for the Record.
- It should be unique, if possible.
- You can use a Site “Name” in the Site ID field if the client uses a name as the main identifier for the Site (VZW).
- By default, Site Name is equal to Site ID.
3. Use Site Custom Name, if you want to distinguish a Site ID from a Site Name. For example, you store a short name (unique identifier) in the Site ID field, and the full name (with many details) in the Site Name field.
To do this, click the “Custom Name” checkbox on the Site card → then enter a site name.
For a better user experience, we use a system field “Site Record Name” consisting of Site ID or Site ID+ Site Name (if they differ) in all maps, dashboards, references, etc.
4. Select the Site Carrier for any cellular transmission type Site.
5. Select the Market where the Site is located (the Region will be auto-selected).
6. Type an Address (or Lat/Long) into the Address search field to search for an address as you type.
Enter Site Address:
- DO NOT press “enter/return” on your keyboard (unless there are no results)!
- Click a result to set that as the address.
- You can grab and drag the pin to move the address, GPS coordinates, or both.

Site boundaries
6. Define Site boundaries on the map.
It is used to process employee geodata. Based on the Site boundaries, we can determine whether an Employee entered a Site or not. Using Site boundaries the system takes all stop points within the lines of a Site and considers the stops as stops on the Site.
The boundaries of a Site can take many forms: circle and polygon. This allows you to mark the site lines more clearly.
The default site boundary is a circle with a radius of 300 meters, which is set after you add an address. Use the Map tool in the Site card to change the radius or create a different shape of boundary.
Site boundary information is stored in the Address card: radius, boundary coordinates.
Sites with a radius of zero are ignored during Time Keeping Processing.
To set the radius to 0, reduce the radius on the map as much as possible.
Site Address card (GEO Address)
Each Site or Location has its own Address record. Open the Address card to make any changes.
Provide Site LAT / LNG with Address for GPS Tracking. The system uses automatic typo checking for entered LAT / LNG values that prevents the user mistakenly entering LAT in the LNG field, and vice versa. If a mistake is detected, Fieldclix will automatically swap the values. This feature is only applicable to the USA / Canada region.
Putting 0/0 as the LAT / LNG is allowed, to accommodate situations where dispatch is necessary ASAP, but site address or LAT/LNG are unknown.
State is mandatory field in case to calculate overtime/double hours limits associated with Work Orders under that Site.
7. Save the Site card after adding all the necessary information to it.
Create Site in GBP Web
You can also create a new Site during GBP in FCX Web.
- Run the GBP in FCX Web.
- Click on the Plus icon near the Site field.
- Create a Site.
- Go to the Sites reference to fill-in additional Site details, if necessary.
Editing of the Site radius is available after entering the Site address.
Fill-in Additional Site Details
1. Site Type: Group Sites
Indicate Site Type like “Monopole” or “Rooftop”.
There is a special type of site — Carrier Group. Group Sites are a good alternative to Related Sites if you want:
- to allocate all working time to one scheduled Work Order for the main Site of the group.
- to associate Time Entries with an appropriate geo-fenced Site which indicates where an Employee was on that period (usefully for mileage)
- do not add hundreds and thousands of Related Sites.
How it works
Carrier Group Sites include:
- a main Site that of the “Carrier Group” Site Type
- other Sites with the same Carrier as the main Site.
There is one main Site in the group for which we create Build Plans and schedule Work Orders. That way, if an Employee has a scheduled WO for the main Site in the group, for which we create BPs, all their time will be allocated to that WO.
Another thing is how we associate Time Entries with geo-fenced Sites. During the Time Keeping Processing, the system fills the geo-fenced Sites in Time Entries with the Sites from Carrier Group where the Employee has been. In total, we can calculate mileage based on complete Time Entries details.
If for some reason you create more than one scheduled WOs for the main Site, the Employee will be prompted to allocate time manually as always. Employee should be within a radius of Group Sites to associate TEs with these geo-fenced Sites. Sites with zero radius are excluded from TK Processing. Main Site in Carrier Group may contain Address.
2. Site with Prevailing Wage
If a Site is always subject to Prevailing Wage rules, mark that.
It means that the FCX system will indicate all created Dispatches with Prevailing Wage: the checkbox “Prevailing Wage” will be active.
If you uncheck the “Prevailing Wage” box and copy dispatch to several days, future dispatches will take all settings from the parent dispatch. Copied dispatches do not pull in the Site settings, like prevailing wage, allow overnight marks.
3. Cost Rates
To indicate cost rates for the hours, which will be allocated to Work Orders, scheduled to that Site.
Site Cost Rates has higher priority than Employee Cost Rates and Work Order Type Cost Rates. Here you can find more about Cost Rates priority in Time Keeping.
