Run the Site Import script
Use the Import Sites script to perform bulk imports of sites. You can also do occasional additional mass imports.
Open the Quick Launch in the FCX Desktop → enter the script name “Import Sites from Excel” → select it.
Prepare Excel file to import
Supported file format: xls; .xlsx
1. Create an Excel document and map FCX Requisites to Excel columns. Or run the script and download a template.
2. The 1 string — column names arranged in the following order:
1 column (A) — Site Name
2 column (B) — Site ID
3 column (C) — Carrier
4 column (D) — Market
5 column (E) — Region
6 column (F) — Address
7 column (G) — City
8 column (H) — State Abbrv
9 column (I) — Country
10 column (J) — ZIP
11 column (K) — Lat
12 column (L) — Long
13 column (M) — Site Type
14 column (N) — Directions from Office
15 column (O) — Access Instructions
16 column (P) — Notes
3. From the second string, list the required Sites that should be imported.
Site Name — enter the Site Name if it is different from the Site ID. Thus, the Custom Name flag will be active on the generated Site card.
Site ID* — mandatory column. Unique Site identifier.
Carrier* — mandatory column. Enter a Carrier Name or Code that matches the Name or Code fields in the Carriers reference.
Market* — mandatory column. Enter a Market Name or Code that matches the Name or Code fields in the Markets (FSM) reference.
Region* — mandatory column. Enter a Region Name or Code that matches the Name or Code fields in the Regions (FSM) reference.
Since a Site always requires an address, you should include all Site location details in the Excel file: either an address or GPS coordinates.
Address* — street and number. This will be entered in the Address Line 1 field on the Address card.
City* — the name of the city. This will be entered in the City field on the Address card.
State Abbrv* — the abbreviation of the State that corresponding to the Code field in the States reference. This will be entered in the State field on the Address card.
Country* — the code of the country that equal to the Code field in the Countries reference. This will be entered in the Country field on the Address card.
ZIP — automatically determined based on address information.
Lat and Long* — geographic coordinates of the Site. Fill in these columns as an alternative to entering address details, or if a Site doesn't have a postal address.
These coordinates will be entered in the corresponding LAT and LNG fields on the Address card. The State, Country fields will be automatically determined based on the coordinates.
To import additional Site details:
Site Type — enter a Site Type Name or Code that matches with the Name or Code fields in the Site Types reference.
Directions from Office, Access Instructions, and Notes — specify access protocol information. The data will be entered in the appropriate fields on the Site card.
Import/Update Sites
1. Run the script and select Import Data.
2. Select the prepared file.
Sites are imported to FCX based on the Site ID to find duplicates. If during import there is a similar Site in FCX, then this Site will be updated.
3. Check the import result.
View the import log: how many Sites have been created, updated or not imported.
Please note that a Site cannot be imported if: 1. All mandatory columns are not specified. 2. The imported file contains rows with the same Site ID. 3. The mapping of reference record names or codes is incorrect.
