Field Materials are material items picked up by the field crew to complete construction or maintenance work on Sites. The Field Materials module in the mobile app allows you to view the list of material items and initiate returns — either by returning items to inventory or marking them as faulty.

How to Initiate a Material Item Return

To initiate a return, you must be assigned the employee role “Mobile. Initiate material items return.”

Follow these steps:

1. Open the mobile app and navigate to the Field Materials module.
2. Search for the Material Item (MI) you wish to return. You can search by item number or use the Scan option for faster results.

3. Tap the Initiate Return button.

• Important: Only Material Items with the status “Sent to Site” are eligible for return.

4. Select one of the following return options:

• Faulty: Creates a Return Bill of Material (BOM), marks the MI as Broken, and updates its status to Return Initiated.
• Return to Inventory: Creates a Return Bill of Material (BOM) and updates the MI’s status to Return Initiated.

Once the Return BOM is completed, the returned Material Items will be moved to the Not Assigned to BOM stage.
